This week CommscampNorth happened in Bradford where 180 people came together to look at better ways to do things.
There was 30 sessions across the day all pitched by attendees ranging from podcasting, TikTok, mid-life crisis, media law, cost of living comms, crisis comms and better partnership working.
Here’s a flavour of the day posted to Twitter.
An overview…
Some thoughts from #CommsCampNorth this week:

1. It's all about leadership and culture
2. The robots are coming! Are you ready?
3. The comms profession is humming with talent and
energy
4. Buy some "work slippers" for WFH
5. Bradford is a surprising, beautiful city

The answer to complex strategic jargon and strategic vagueness is:
— Dan Slee (@danslee) October 13, 2022
– keep it short and simple
– involve management in the process… even if it's exhausting.
– keep asking for decision.
– it's the job of comms unfortunately to help them work out their strategy#commscampnorth
It’s time for @commscamp #CommsCampNorth, the best public sector communications get together in the business!

Attended a few other sessions. In summary:
— Charlotte Gough (@charlottegough8) October 13, 2022
– Lots of changes re. elections in the next couple of years 🗳️
– Being in the room as part of the process to advise and support 🤝
– Blow your own trumpet and share your successes 👏
– Cake is good 😂#CommsCampNorth pic.twitter.com/D4CcdZyx5A
And also a reminder that organisations with poor strategic thinking end up with comms teams with poor strategic thinking. What else do think will happen? #CommscampNorth.

A timely reminder that it's not a one-and-done thing plugging comms into the organisation's strategy #CommsCampNorth

Enjoyed attending #CommsCampNorth and spending time with UK public sector comms folks. The challenges I learned about would not be unfamiliar to Americans working comms for public agencies. 1/
