Training

I’ve trained more than 5,000 people from 1,056 organisations over the past 10 years.

Essential Comms Skills Booster

I was once asked if I could come-up with a programme to give all the skills I think comms people will need. After several years of reflection, this is it.

Across five sessions delivered online this gives comms planning and evaluation, updated media landscape stats, what the algorithm says to help you shape content, understanding new platforms like WhatsApp, TikTok and Nextdoor, Facebook groups and when to engage online and deal with online hate.

Essential AI for public sector comms

There’s a lot of noise about AI if you want to make sense of it here’s the workshop you want.

I’ve been researching AI in communications since 2018 and I’ve launched a workshop that will help you use it in the public sector. You’ll know the big picture, how to use it safely in the public sector, prompts, tools and detecting and combatting hostile AI.

Essential TikTok & Reels

Half of all time spent on Instagram is spent on Reels.

This session will show you the difference between Reels and TikTok. It’ll show you how to create effective content for both platforms and how to use each platform’s editing tools to finish off your work. A practical session.

Essential Video Skills Rebooted

Half of all time spent on Facebnook is spent watching video and that’s just Facebnook.

So, doesn’t it make sense to picjk-up the skills that will help you plan, edit, shoot and popst effective video using just a smartphone?

In this rebooted online course you’ll hget up to speed on where video sits in the comms landscape and how to create content that people will watch and act on.

I’m joined by Julia Higginbottom for this online workshop.

Essential Media Relations

Three quarters of under 24s turned to traditional media to get their COVID-19 information.

News has changed from being print first to web first. In this programme we’ll look at pro-active comms with the media and also reactive.

If there’s a journalist you need to deal with and you need to polish your skills this is the one for you or your team.

Social media for elected members

Using social media has gone from a nice to have to a vital to have.

I’ve been training elected members since 2009 and drew-up the first LGA guidelines for England & Wales as well as for Scotland through the Improvement Service.

In-house training is available.

Drop me a note on what you need from training. I’d love to have a chat.
