WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

Four two hour practical sessions that will give you the data and step-by-steps the skills you’ll need.

Session 1: BASICS (2 hours)

We’ll look at the data on who watches short form video in the UK and what an optimum length of video is.

We’ll look at how to get the best out of shooting with a mobile and how to get the best out of recording sound.

We’ll look at the best tools to shoot and edit with as well as examples of effectiove short form video.

Session 2: PRACTICAL (2 hours)

We’ll set you a task to film, shoot and edit a short film on your mobile and go step-by-step with you.

We’ll help you to understand how to plan a shot list as well as edit and add cutaways, filters, transitions and music.

Session 3: VERTICAL VIDEO (2 hours)

We’ll show you how to crack vertical video such as TikTok and Reels through hooks and other techniques.

We’ll show you the pro’s and cons of editing on the social platform itself using tools provided by Meta and TikTok.

We’ll show you how to use music without falling foul of copyright law as well as the role GDPR needs to play.

Session 4: LIVE VIDEO & AI TOOLS (2 hours)

We’ll also show you how to safely use AI tools that meets Meta, TikTok and UK Government guidelines.

We’ll look at AI tools and the strengths and weaknesses they currently have.

We’ll also show the strengths and weaknesses of live video.

The workshop is delivered by Dan Slee for delivery online.

Dan has helped deliver video training since 2016. He helped pioneer the first workshops to offer training on making films with smartphones and tablets. He delivers the face-to-face sessions.

As a bonus… tea or coffee?

One of the things I miss from in-person training is the decent refreshments that come with it. So, everyone who signs up has the option to have sent to them a box of Teapigs tea or a bag of specially roasted coffee ground by a specialist coffee maker.
